Answer: The Housing Authority of the City of Danbury (HACD) was established in 1948 under the Connecticut General Statutes to provide decent, safe and sanitary housing to low-income and moderate income families. The Authority manages seven communities totaling approximately 900 apartment units. Of the seven communities, four are located in the downtown Danbury area, five of the communities are family developments and four are senior/disabled high rises. In addition to administering the "Public Housing" program, the Authority administers approximately 1100 Section 8 vouchers under its "Housing Choice Voucher" program. Each of our properties is a representative of people from many walks of life and the great diversity of the Greater Danbury area. Our staff are dedicated to creating and maintaining a positive environment for our residents.
