Answer: On March 4, 1930 Pomeroy Grain Growers Inc. was organized and incorporated under the Agricultural Marketing Act passed by Congress and the Hoover Administration. To start the company 660 shares were issued to 120 stockholders who had paid 10% of their stock to start the company. The Cooperative was established to give local farmers a place to deliver and market their wheat and be considered a reliable source of high quality wheat to ship to Portland for export. After 90 years of business the core mission is still the same, to provide quality wheat for export. In 1979 the cooperative purchased Pacific Supply's agronomy business to provide our customers another option to purchase fertilizer, chemical and seed. Along with the inputs, we also provide a range of custom farming services. In 1993 the cooperative expanded their presence and opened a grain purchasing office in Colfax to service our customers from north of the Snake River to the Canadian border. In spring of 2021 Pomeroy Grain Growers purchased the Central Ferry Terminal Association(CFTA) elevator on the north side of Central Ferry. This acquisition solidified our position in the river market place by adding 2.4 million bushels of storage space with two additional dump pits and added an additional barge loading facility to maximize efficiency.
