Answer: Rhody Surf, Inc. was founded by Rhode Island native, surfer, and businessman, Bobby Drought. The company was established as a corporation in the State of Rhode Island in January 2011. Prior to Rhody Surfs official incorporation, Drought and his tight-knit group of surf instructors had been teaching surf lessons as a labor of love for years in and around Newport. The original business plan for Rhody Surf was created as a college assignment when Drought was attending Salve Regina University. With a personal interest in business and a lifelong love of surfing, Rhody Surf was the joining of two personal passions business, and surfing. At its core roots, the business was designed as a mobile surf company and school for a beach community. Throughout its 10+ years in business, Rhody Surf has proven to be agile in its operation, shifting their primary homebase to locations that include Second Beach, Downtown Newport and now First Beach. Along the way, its received many accolades and awards for its unique business model and customer service. It even landed a spot on national television as a feature of HGTVs House Hunters. Rhody Surf has organically grown throughout the years and has become synonymous as the place to learn to surf. Its friendly crew is dedicated to spreading the stoke and helping locals and tourists alike learn the basics of surfing. They also offer a wide selection of surf and SUP rentals conveniently on the largest public beach in The City by the Sea.
