Answer: The St. Augustine Humane Society promotes healthy, responsible, lifelong pet ownership by serving the medical and rehabilitative needs of companion animals in our community. Our programs are designed to strengthen human-pet relationships by reducing the need for pets to enter shelters. Our goal is to encourage the humane treatment of animals, avoid overpopulation, and prevent animal cruelty. SAHS is focused on providing resources to families who would not normally have access due to economic hardships. Through our resource center, we address the issues pet owners face when struggling to maintain the health of their household pets. Our low-cost programs include sterilization surgeries, preventative care, a wellness clinic and veterinarian access, pet food pantry, and dog training courses. In addition, we facilitate a lost pet program, re-homing services, humane education programs, microchips, and a dog grooming salon.
