Answer: Tony's Coffee is an independently-owned, fair trade pioneer. Their mission is to produce coffee that is a force for good. They're the 2021 Roaster of the Year, awarded by Roast Magazine. In 2002, they became one of the countrys first coffee roasters to source organic, fair trade, shade grown coffee from farmer-owned cooperatives. In 2012, they became a founding member of World Coffee Research, whose work help ensures the future of sustainable coffee production. In 2013, they won the Americas Best Espresso Award and the following year they took home 1st place at the Specialty Coffee Associations Roasters Choice competition. In 2018, they passed $1,000,000 in social premiums paid out to fair trade coffee cooperatives around the world. These funds have helped build schools, roads, and clean water projects. In 2019, they installed a high efficiency, American-built Loring Roaster. This new technology helped reduce the carbon footprint of their roastery by over 50%. In 2020, they converted their roastery and delivery fleet to become 100% carbon neutral. They've pledged to become historically carbon neutral by the year 2030.
