Answer: Woldumar Nature Center is Lansing's only self-funded nature center. Woldumar was founded in 1963 to encourage conservation and environmental education. Our mission has remained the same for 51 years, to educate people about the natural environment. Woldumar boasts 178 acres, 5 miles of trails and shoreline along the Grand River. Diverse ecosystems along the trails include a pine forest, hardwood forest, prairie, lagoon, man-made wetland and a pond. The trails are open to the public all year, dawn to dusk. Today Woldumar hosts a wide array of events, including the "Chili" Winter Evening, the American Heritage Festival, Petals and Vines, Run-A-Munk and Camp Discovery. Summer Camp is Woldumar's shining gem, providing irreplaceable outdoor experiences for youth.
