Answer: Helen is a Vegas-based literary magazine published biannually in print and digital media. Our focus is on expanding the perspective of the city and greater Southern Nevadan area as well as giving a special spotlight to the local and diverse talent living here and originally from here. The name Helen was inspired by the First Lady of Las Vegas, Helen J. Stewart, a pioneer who helped forge the valley in the 1860s. Helen seeks well-written short stories and poems in a diverse spectrum of genres: traditional literary, fantasy, magical realism, science fiction, horror, speculative fiction, mystery, historical, as well as blended genre and experimentation. We hope the work of Helen helps to open the imagination of all those who read her. Helen also seeks work of creative nonfiction, artwork, short film, and video and audio files featuring spoken word. Each issue will contain material in print and digital. Some materials will be exclusively digital. Our first issue will launch on October 31, 2014 on the 150th anniversary of Nevadas statehood.
