Mission Statement: Calhoun County EMA serves the citizens of Calhoun County by coordinating a comprehensive emergency management program that protects against, prepares for, mitigates, responds to, and recovers from all hazards and disasters, regardless of cause. It is the goal of the Calhoun County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) to protect the health, safety, and economic interests of the residents of Calhoun County, Alabama by working to reduce the impacts of natural and man-made hazards. The EMA is the agency responsible for coordinating with state and federal agencies to assure the citizens of Calhoun County are prepared and accommodated before, during, and after a disaster strikes. We are also here to assist local organizations with basic disaster preparedness capabilities and training. The Calhoun County EMA works towards our goal of protecting our citizens through mitigation and preparedness programs as well as response and recovery efforts. Our preparedness program is focused on educating the citizens of Calhoun County about the many hazards they may face, both natural and man-made. Our public outreach program includes preparedness presentations to schools, community groups, businesses, and senior centers. The goal of this program is to stress the importance of individual preparedness. When a disaster happens, the Calhoun County EMA is ready to respond. Our agency hosts a state-of-the-art Emergency Operation Center (EOC) which serves as the coordination hub for the response efforts of the county, our municipalities and volunteer agencies.
