In addition to patients from our own community, we regularly provide emergency care to patients from around the world due to our close proximity to I-95. In addition, we are the closest acute care facility for visitors to Lake Gaston, a nearby recreational lake. As a non-profit organization, our physicians, nurses and staff place patient needs first and we are committed to providing compassionate care to our visitors, friends and neighbors who have placed their trust in us. We provide millions of dollars in charitable care each year, and as we have grown to be one of the areas largest private employers, we have become an essential component of the local economy. Halifax Regional is fully accredited by The Joint Commission and our Joint Care Center has been designated a Center of Excellence.
